Cass County Sheriff talks security at A.I. data center discussions
Cass County Sheriff Jesse Jahner says his office is monitoring local town hall meetings about proposed AI data centers because of heightened tensions and potential public-safety concerns. The sheriff’s office says it will remain neutral on data center construction and may attend meetings proactively or when requested.
Cass County Sheriff Jesse Jahner said his office is monitoring town hall meetings concerning AI data center construction in the Fargo-area region. He said heightened emotions surrounding data centers could create public-safety risks, citing violence at a recent city council meeting in Memphis, Tennessee.
Jahner said he has attended several meetings as an interested citizen and wants to understand the scale and potential impact of the project. The Cass County Sheriff’s Office said it does not support or oppose data center development and could provide security at meetings at the request of local authorities, including the Harmony Township board, or as part of routine patrol activity.
