Wisner Township Extends Data Center Moratorium, Plans Zoning Ordinance Amendment
The Wisner Township Board extended its data center moratorium for another six months during its August 17 meeting. The board also scheduled a special Planning Commission meeting to discuss an amendment to the township's zoning ordinance that would create an overlay district for data centers.
At its August 17 meeting, the Wisner Township Board voted unanimously to extend its data center moratorium for an additional six months. Supervisor Tracy Freed and board members Patrick Mulligan, Marie Reese, Lisa Valentine, and Wade MacFarlane were present, with Valentine moving for the extension, supported by Reese.
The board also discussed future actions regarding a potential data center overlay district. A special meeting of the Planning Commission has been scheduled for August 26, where an attorney is expected to provide information on amending the township's zoning ordinance to establish this district for data centers. Other topics covered in the meeting included fire services, road abandonments, water costs, and a potential new trash contract.
