The Bossier Parish Police Jury held a public hearing on Wednesday, March 18, to discuss the final property allocation for an upcoming $6 billion Amazon data center. The proposed facility is planned for a 1.3 million square foot campus in Bossier Parish, Louisiana. The hearing concluded with the jury's unanimous approval of the final plat for the data center campus. Several key concerns were addressed during the discussion, particularly regarding the facility's resource consumption and local impact. According to Stack Infrastructure, the data center will use an estimated 57 million gallons of water annually. Bossier City has committed to providing up to 13.5 million gallons of water per day, with the data center responsible for the construction costs of necessary infrastructure upgrades and new pipes. Wastewater from the center will undergo on-site treatment before being transported to a specialized disposal facility, while domestic wastewater will be handled by the Town of Benton. AEP SWEPCO confirmed that electricity rates for residents will not increase due to the data center's power demands. Both Stack Infrastructure and SWEPCO stated that the data center will fund any required new electricity transmission infrastructure. Additionally, the Bossier Parish Police Jury confirmed that the facility will adhere to local noise regulations. The project is projected to create 500 construction jobs and 270 permanent positions, with salaries 150% above the state's annual average.
