Collins expressed confusion over the removal of the director, noting that such changes typically occur when programs fail, which he believes is not the case here.
Despite the controversy, Pima Community College maintains that its donations are not connected to the changes in the sustainability program and that the program is "here to stay." A college representative, whose name was not fully captured, affirmed the institution's ongoing commitment to sustainability, climate action, and environmental stewardship, suggesting the donation is an opportunity to expand student support. Opponents, however, worry about the college's future environmental priorities.
