Following a meeting where dozens of community members filled the Dubuque County Zoning Commission to oppose data center development, the commission recommended a moratorium on new facilities.

Two of the three Dubuque County supervisors, Harley Pothoff and Ann McDonough, have indicated their support for this moratorium. They aim to "slow down" discussions surrounding potential local data center projects.

Supervisor Wayne Kenniker, the third member of the board, stated that he requires additional information before making a decision on supporting the proposed moratorium.
