Bossier City creates fund tied to Amazon data center tax revenue
The Bossier City Council has approved the creation of a new infrastructure fund. This fund will collect one-half percent of the city's sales tax revenue starting Jan. 1, 2027, with the revenue anticipated from the construction of a new Amazon data center. The collected funds are designated for future infrastructure projects within the city.
The Bossier City Council has established a new Infrastructure Capital Fund, set to begin collecting 0.5% of the city's sales tax revenue on January 1, 2027. This financial measure is directly linked to the anticipated increase in sales tax revenue generated by the construction of a new Amazon data center. The collected funds will be reserved for up to five years or until the data center's construction in Benton is complete, to be utilized for future infrastructure projects within Bossier City.
Amazon previously announced in February its plans for a $12 billion investment in a large-scale data center featuring two interconnected campuses spanning Caddo and Bossier Parishes. City leaders expect the project to significantly boost local sales tax collections, enabling long-term civic improvements.
