In response to resident apprehension regarding potential environmental and infrastructure strain, including high electricity and water usage, the town board announced its intention to explore a temporary moratorium. Town Attorney Benjamin Gailey will draft a local law for this moratorium, which will then undergo a public hearing before formal adoption. The board suggested a timeline of at least a year, similar to other local laws which typically range from 12 to 18 months.
Supervisor Peter Goodman emphasized the board's goal to prevent developments that would deplete local water resources and consume excessive energy.
