Rochester Area Chamber of Commerce Throws Its Support Behind Pine Island Data Center Project
The Rochester Area Chamber of Commerce supports Ryan Companies' planned 482-acre development in Pine Island, with Google set to anchor the site with a data center. The project has faced strong resident opposition and is currently on hold amid legal challenges, including a temporary restraining order.
The Rochester Area Chamber of Commerce publicly endorsed Project Skyway, a planned 482-acre development in Pine Island led by Ryan Companies. Google is expected to build a data center occupying nearly 90 acres as the site's first tenant.
The chamber cited projected economic benefits including more than 700 construction jobs, about 100 permanent positions, $130 million in city property tax revenue over the facility's first 28 years and more than $24 million for Pine Island Public Schools. Some area residents have opposed the project at City Council and other public meetings, and legal challenges have placed the development on hold.
