Local business leaders hear about the Google data center construction

Construction is underway for a new Google data center off North Cole Street in Lima, Ohio. Despite the progress, some community members and local business leaders have questions about the project's long-term implications for the region. At a Lima Allen County Chamber of Commerce event, an executive vice president from the regional growth partnership of Northwest Ohio addressed these concerns. He emphasized that data centers, which provide storage for digital information, conduct detailed load studies with electric utilities to ensure sufficient power availability on the grid. Similarly, agreements are made with municipal water systems to ensure necessary infrastructure is in place to meet the data center's water needs without impacting local residents, schools, or hospitals. The speaker added that such data center developments are instrumental in bringing the Midwest into the technology age, transforming the region into a high-tech manufacturing center.
