TeraWulf and Kentucky Power have finalized an amended agreement to expand the planned Muskie Data Campus at EastPark near Ashland. The project’s contracted electric demand would rise from 500 megawatts to 1 gigawatt, with the second 500-megawatt phase advanced from 2030 to 2029. TeraWulf said the campus could eventually support as much as 2 gigawatts and include four buildings on more than 300 acres bordering Boyd and Greenup counties.

Kentucky Power plans to add a 760-megawatt combined-cycle generation unit at its Big Sandy Power Plant near Louisa and require TeraWulf to cover estimated financing costs. The utility said the arrangement is designed to protect existing customers and provide approximately $100 million in winter bill credits over the contract’s first 10 years. The amended agreement and related construction plans still require review and approval by the Kentucky Public Service Commission, with Kentucky Power expecting to file the proposal by November.
