Company Agrees to Buy Youngstown Building for Possible Data Center
Valor Energy has agreed to buy an operational computing center at 1911 Logan Avenue in Youngstown for $3.6 million, with plans to convert it into an artificial intelligence data center. The proposed project would use the site’s existing 18 megavolt-amperes of energized capacity, though the acquisition, permitting, construction and financing remain uncertain.
New York-based Valor Energy Inc. has agreed to acquire the company that owns an approximately 30,888-square-foot operational computing center at 1911 Logan Ave. in Youngstown, Ohio, for $3.6 million. If the transaction closes, Valor plans to redevelop the facility as an AI data center serving artificial intelligence and high-performance computing workloads.
The site reportedly has about 18 megavolt-amperes of apparent power capacity through an existing 23-kilovolt connection with Ohio Edison. Valor strategic adviser Dave Nichols said the energized power infrastructure could reduce the time required to develop AI computing capacity, although the company cautioned that the capacity may not equal usable IT load and that additional design, construction, equipment and permitting work will be required. Youngstown community planning and economic development director DeMaine Kitchen said city officials were not previously aware of the potential project. The acquisition remains subject to due diligence, closing conditions and financing.
