Wyoming Secretary of State Chuck Gray is facing criticism from Governor Mark Gordon for inconsistent voting on easements related to a Google data center's power generation facility near Cheyenne. Gray, who is campaigning for U.S. House with a platform opposing data centers, initially cast the lone 'no' vote in February for a 35-year easement for Cheyenne Power Hub, a facility intended to fuel a new Google data center.
However, in June, Gray voted in favor of a similar 30-acre easement for the same facility, later claiming to Cowboy State Daily that he was unaware of its true nature and believed it was for an oil and gas producer due to unclear notices. Governor Gordon vehemently denied Gray's accusations of hiding information, stating that board members receive application documents a week in advance and have opportunities to ask questions. Gordon publicly criticized Gray, suggesting he was unprepared, distracted by his phone, and using
