The citizen group No Data Centers 318 expressed concerns, specifically about water usage, and called for a moratorium on construction, independent environmental studies, and increased transparency from the project developers. In response, two resolutions are anticipated to be presented before the full commission at its upcoming meeting: one mandating an environmental study and another requiring water filtration upgrades for the data center.
The Amazon project, a three-campus development valued at $12 billion, was initially announced in February by Governor Jeff Landry in collaboration with STACK Infrastructure.
