Pacific aldermen pass data center moratorium
The Pacific Board of Aldermen has approved a 12-month moratorium on new data center applications. This decision comes as Franklin County is considering new regulations for data centers, following a developer, Beltline Energy, LLC, tabling its annexation application.
The Pacific Board of Aldermen on June 2 approved a 12-month moratorium on new data center applications, effectively pausing new developments within the city. This decision was made concurrently with Franklin County's ongoing consideration of new regulations for data centers.
The moratorium follows an earlier action on February 25, when data center developer Beltline Energy, LLC requested to table an annexation application with the Pacific Planning & Zoning Commission. Beltline Energy's proposal has not progressed since that time.
