Three men were arrested in Loudoun County, Virginia, after a midnight burglary at a data center construction site in Sterling. The suspects, part of a group of five, allegedly stole over $100,000 worth of copper wire spools from a commercial data center site on the 45000 block of Maries Road.
Loudoun County Sheriff's deputies responded to the burglary in progress, leading to a high-speed pursuit when the suspects attempted to flee in a rented U-Haul truck. The chase concluded when the U-Haul crashed, allowing deputies to recover the stolen copper. Three suspects were apprehended at the crash scene and charged with Grand Larceny, while two others escaped and remain at large.
Former FBI Special Agent Ken Gray commented on the incident, noting that data centers have become a lucrative target for copper thieves, shifting from traditional residential and construction sites. The arrested individuals, identified as Da'Von Muskelly, D'Anthony Charlton, and Michael Carter, are being held on bond, with two of them having prior criminal records.
