The city of Frankfort, Indiana, is currently evaluating a $7.5 billion proposal from the French company Data One to construct an AI factory data center. Data One previously showed interest in Clinton County before focusing on Frankfort.
Residents have voiced concerns regarding the project's potential community impact, particularly its water usage and the need for greater regulation. Resident Vincent Fabios emphasized the necessity for data centers to be more closely regulated and strategically located. While the project could bring revenue, some citizens are uncertain about the direct economic benefits to Frankfort.
In response to public inquiries, Mayor Judy Sheets has scheduled two open houses for September 21st and 22nd.
