Meta celebrated the grand opening of its Temple, Texas data center, marking the facility's official online status after years of construction. The more than $1.2 billion campus is designed to be AI-optimized, specifically serving AI workloads, and supported over 1,200 construction jobs at its peak, now employing nearly 100 people.
The company highlighted the data center's environmental features, including a closed-loop liquid cooling system that requires zero water for the majority of the year, aligning with Meta's broader objective to achieve water positivity by 2030. This initiative underscores the company's commitment to sustainable operations.
During the celebratory event, Meta announced a significant community investment, providing a grant exceeding $400,000 to Temple and Belton Independent School Districts. This funding is designated for launching mobile STEM and AI learning labs, building on Meta's total investment of over $1.7 million in Bell County schools and nonprofits since breaking ground in 2022.
