Read full story here: The three meetings held today allowed people to ask questions about the 900-acre Microsoft Data Center that will be coming to Granger. Those meetings capped at around 12 people for each session. "What is the water usage going to look like? What is the campus going to look like? Just want to, you know, just get some of the first hand information and understanding it so and how it affect our environmental area," Ed Keve said. "How do you say soften some of the noise, if noise is generated or if there's power issues, and that seems to be a big concern in our group, there were a number of people that were worried about upscaling prices to the other homeowners. So, you know, how does this type of project add to the community?" Jerry Frost said. St. Joseph County Councilman Dan Schaetzle says being able to ask those questions in a smaller group setting felt important to him, especially to learn where water for the facility will be coming from. "The water that will be used for the cooling is not going to be drawn from our aquifer that feeds Granger or Mishawaka city aquifer, which is actually 300 feet down below the Granger aquifer," Schaetzle said. Schaetzle adding questions asked at these meetings will help Microsoft and the county. He adds they hope to have a larger meeting for the community in April. "The county should have its new noise ordinance passed, and we are very cognizant at the county level of the need to have a low frequency part of the ordinance because of the data centers. So that will be a very important meeting in late April for community members to attend," Schaetzle said. Schaetzle says there will be more of the smaller private meetings held and anyone wanting to attend should reach out to him directly.
