Meta Funds Seven Entergy Gas Plants to Power Biggest Data Center

Meta Platforms Inc. has announced an agreement with Entergy Corp. to construct seven new natural gas-fired power plants to supply its largest data center, currently under development in rural Louisiana. These plants, adding to three already approved, are expected to provide a total of over 7 gigawatts of electricity. The move signifies a substantial increase in Meta's reliance on fossil fuels, particularly natural gas, as the company ramps up its infrastructure to support the demand of the rapidly advancing artificial intelligence sector. This development will establish a significant power generation capacity dedicated to a single data center facility.
