The Warren County Fiscal Court has passed new data center regulations after a second reading, with approval also coming from the Bowling Green City Commissioners. These regulations include specific requirements for data center location, design, utility protections, and decommissioning. Future data center developers will be responsible for all associated utility costs.
The Warren County Fiscal Court has officially passed new data center regulations, following a second reading during its regularly scheduled meeting. These regulations, developed by the city-county planning commission over eight months of research and community visits, outline specific requirements for data center development within the county.
The new ordinance mandates stricter standards for data center location and design, including a 500-foot setback from property lines and a 1,500-foot buffer from homes and schools. Additionally, the regulations address utility infrastructure, requiring any future data center developers to cover all associated power, water, and sewer protection costs.
Judge Executive Doug Gorman confirmed the extensive research behind the new rules. The Bowling Green City Commissioners had also previously approved these regulations, indicating a coordinated effort between city and county leadership. Public input was also gathered through an open house event prior to the final approval.
