Project Jupiter, a data center campus being built for Oracle and OpenAI in Santa Teresa, has surpassed 25% completion. Clayco says the project is expected to create thousands of construction and ongoing jobs while using closed-loop cooling and low-water systems designed to limit impacts on local water supplies and the electric grid.

Project Jupiter, a planned data center campus in Santa Teresa, has passed the 25% completion mark after Clayco and Kiewit placed the final structural beam on the first 855,000-square-foot portion of the development. The campus is being built for Oracle and OpenAI, with STACK Infrastructure also involved.

Clayco Executive Chairman and Founder Bob Clark said the project is expected to generate billions of dollars in economic impact for New Mexico and Doña Ana County, including more than 7,000 construction jobs and 1,500 ongoing project-supported positions. The development has so far employed nearly 1,000 New Mexico residents and more than 900 union members.

The project’s backers say its design emphasizes environmental performance, including closed-loop, non-evaporative cooling that does not use community drinking water, efficient power systems and measures intended to support grid stability. A planned public dashboard will report operating data such as water use, noise, heat, light and emissions once the campus is online.
