Hallam Village Board approves zoning rights for data center
The Hallam Village Board unanimously approved zoning rights for a planned data center, moving the project closer to construction. Crusoe Technologies representatives addressed residents’ questions about fire safety and noise, while some attendees remained disappointed with the approval.
The Hallam Village Board voted 5-0 to approve zoning rights for a proposed data center associated with Crusoe Technologies and Monolith Materials. The decision followed about an hour of discussion among board members, residents and a company representative, including questions about fire safety and noise.
A Crusoe Technologies representative, Matthew Buster, said the project has a fire plan in place. Residents who toured a data center reportedly said noise levels were not especially loud, though some people leaving the meeting expressed disappointment. The approval clears a zoning hurdle, but the timing for construction remains uncertain and the station said it will continue following the project.
