Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes is inviting residents to a town hall at Eagles Community Center in Mesa to discuss concerns about data center development across the state. Residents are expected to raise questions about water consumption, electricity demand and the potential effect on utility bills.
Mayes has called on Gov. Katie Hobbs and state lawmakers to temporarily halt approvals for new data centers while Arizona develops a plan to manage industry growth. She also asked state regulators to investigate whether data centers are contributing to higher bills for Arizona Public Service customers, following a 12 News investigation alleging that hundreds of millions of dollars in costs were shifted to other customers. APS disputes those findings.
