Prichard, Alabama, residents gathered for a community meeting at City Hall to protest the proposed development of a multimillion-dollar data center on Telegraph Road by the company Edged. The meeting, which was the second held in recent months regarding the project, was marked by a "rowdy crowd" and "outbursts" as citizens voiced their concerns.

Sen. Vivian Figures, D-Mobile, was present at the June 2026 meeting. Edged representative Garland Christopher had previously informed community members in April that the company's data centers utilize less water than others, operate quietly, and would generate permanent jobs for the city. Despite these assurances, the community's opposition remains active, particularly regarding environmental impacts.
