IURC approves AES plan to power Google data center in Morgan County
The Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission approved AES’s plan to directly power Google’s planned 390-megawatt data center near Monrovia in Morgan County. Under the agreement, Google will pay the full cost of the electricity infrastructure needed to serve the facility and three other proposed energy projects in Indiana.
The Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission approved an AES plan to provide direct power for Google’s proposed 390-megawatt data center near Monrovia in Morgan County. The utility announced the agreement with Google in April as part of a broader arrangement covering three additional proposed energy projects in Indiana.
Under the agreement, Google will pay the full cost of directly powering the data center and the other projects, shifting the infrastructure expense away from other utility customers. The approval clears a regulatory step for AES to serve the planned facility.
