Calistoga residents voiced fierce opposition to a proposal from Global Stack LLC for a data center, multi-story parking garage, and vertiport at the city's 70-acre Fairgrounds. Nearly 100 people attended a Fairgrounds Advisory Committee meeting to criticize the plan, which they deemed a poor fit for the small town.
Calistoga residents confronted a proposal by developer Global Stack LLC for a data center, multi-story parking garage, and a vertiport at the city's 70-acre Calistoga Fairgrounds. The plan was met with strong criticism from nearly 100 people who packed the Fairgrounds Advisory Committee's monthly meeting.
Nicholas Kovacevich, president of Global Stack LLC, presented the proposal, which included AI renderings of futuristic elements like flying cars and turbines. Residents, however, were vocally opposed, using terms like "grotesque" and "monstrous" to describe the development and stating it was unsuitable for their small town of 5,200.
Kovacevich acknowledged the strong opposition and his company's current "exploration mode." Global Stack LLC, founded in March, aims to revamp over 70 fairgrounds across California. The company has also presented plans to boards at San Francisco’s Cow Palace and the Solano County Fairgrounds in Vallejo, according to Kovacevich, who envisions creating a "circular economy" in the state.
