Conserve Ohio protests data centers ahead of midterm elections
Conserve Ohio held a protest in Cleveland opposing the expansion of hyperscale data centers across Ohio. The group is urging officials to ban such facilities and promoting a petition that it says has more than 130,000 signatures ahead of the midterm elections.
Members of Conserve Ohio protested in Cleveland against what they described as a growing data center buildout across Ohio. The grassroots organization is calling on state and local officials to ban hyperscale data centers and is using the upcoming midterm elections to educate voters about candidates' positions on the issue.
The group also promoted a citizen-led petition that it says has collected more than 130,000 signatures. Protest participants cited concerns that hyperscale facilities consume tens to hundreds of megawatts of continuous electricity and millions of gallons of cooling water each day.
