The City of St. Louis has revised its proposed framework for data center zoning regulations, incorporating insights from additional research and community feedback. The updated proposal outlines a more cautious approach to data center development within the city and mandates a community benefits agreement for any large-scale project.
A public hearing is scheduled for May 18 at City Hall, where the Planning Commission will consider the framework and potentially vote on recommending its approval. Ahead of this, a Zoom-based information webinar will be held on May 11, and written comments are being accepted by the Planning Commission. Should the Planning Commission recommend the regulations, they would then need to be passed by the St. Louis Board of Aldermen and signed into law by Mayor Cara Spencer before taking effect. These new rules would supersede the interim measures established by Executive Order 92 and Resolution 111.
