Almost 28 residents of Meadowland Village in Maysville, Mason County, Kentucky, have been given three months to vacate their mobile homes. The trailer park is under contract for sale to an unnamed AI company, identified only as a "Fortune 500 tech company," which plans to construct a massive hyperscale data center complex on over 2,000 acres of adjacent farmland. The developer initially offered $20,000 for moving expenses to residents, many of whom are elderly or disabled, but has since increased the offer to $50,000, contingent on the property being rezoned. Residents, including Rico Roberts and Roger Purcell, have voiced strong opposition, stating that the compensation is insufficient and there are not enough alternative trailer parks in the area to accommodate them. Purcell also highlighted the added financial burden of new water, electricity, and sewage costs. Attorney Hank Graddy has vowed to file a lawsuit on behalf of the residents to block the necessary rezoning for the project. Developer attorney Tanner Nichols declined to name the company at a public hearing, stating its identity has only been shared with officials under non-disclosure agreements. The project is expected to create 2,000 construction jobs and 400 operational positions. The data center is planned to be the largest in the Tri-State area.
