Osage Beach considers zoning changes to regulate data centers
The Osage Beach Planning Commission has approved proposed zoning changes that would require data center developers to submit an impact statement for final approval. These recommendations will now go before the Board of Aldermen for official consideration and a vote. This new step aims to regulate future data center or colocation facility requests in the city.
The Osage Beach Planning Commission has voted 4-1 to recommend new zoning additions aimed at regulating future data center and colocation facility developments within the city. The proposed changes, explained by Planner Cary Patterson, would require developers to submit an impact statement for final approval.
This statement would detail their findings, which the city could then review or have a professional company evaluate. If the findings meet city satisfaction, the project is in the appropriate zone, and other requirements are met, building permits could then proceed. The recommendations will now be presented to the Osage Beach Board of Aldermen for consideration and an official vote at their upcoming meeting.
