Weigh in now on air quality plan for Lancaster city data center's second phase
Pennsylvania’s Department of Environmental Protection is accepting public comments through Oct. 26 on an air-quality plan for the second phase of a data center on Greenfield Road in Lancaster. The plan calls for 84 diesel-fired generators to provide backup power, and residents may request changes or an in-person hearing.
The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection is seeking public input on plans to operate 84 diesel-fired backup generators for a second data center building under construction along Greenfield Road in Lancaster city. Comments will be accepted through Oct. 26 as part of the required air-quality review.
PennFuture litigation director Jessica O’Neill said public comments remain important because DEP must respond to issues raised during the review. Approval is considered likely if the agency determines the plan complies with state and federal law, while the public comment period also allows residents to request changes or a hearing.
