Forward Township residents address data center zoning concerns, rowdiness at meeting
Forward Township residents voiced opposition and zoning concerns about the proposed Misty Hollow Data Center Project at a supervisors meeting. The township has no zoning ordinance, while the planning commission has tabled the proposal after identifying 16 deficiencies; developers may present again Oct. 22.
Dozens of Forward Township residents attended a board of supervisors meeting to criticize the proposed Misty Hollow Data Center Project and question how the community could legally block its construction. Much of the discussion focused on the township’s lack of zoning, which residents said has left officials without sufficient tools to regulate the project.
Residents also debated the disorderly conduct at an Oct. 1 planning commission meeting, where Misty Hollow representatives were reportedly heckled and booed. Township officials said efforts to establish zoning were delayed by an outdated subdivision and land development ordinance. The planning commission has tabled the data center proposal, and the developer’s next opportunity to submit information is Oct. 22, subject to resolving 16 deficiencies identified by the township engineer.
