During the meeting, members of the public raised concerns about the potential environmental and health risks associated with data centers. Additionally, an official from the Ralls County Electric Cooperative confirmed they have been approached by potential data centers but have not yet received formal requests for membership or power, noting they serve data centers under 30 megawatts.
A follow-up meeting is scheduled for September 16 at the courthouse to specifically discuss a potential moratorium on data center development. Any ballot measure related to data centers would likely not appear before April.
