An open house was held at the Civic Center in Canton, Ohio, for a new data center project planned for the city. Panattoni, a California-based development company, is behind the project, which will be located on a large tract of vacant industrial property off 8th Street NE.
Chris Minghenelli, Senior Vice President with Panattoni, confirmed that representatives were on hand to answer questions and that the company is actively seeking employees and interested construction firms for the project. He noted that the size of the data center has not yet been determined, but an environmental team has cleared the property, deeming it environmentally clean. Panattoni is also coordinating with AEP to ensure sufficient electricity availability. The company anticipates beginning construction within six to ten months, with the building phase expected to take two and a half years.
