Ephrata Township, Pennsylvania is holding a public hearing on April 7 to discuss a proposed zoning amendment addressing data centers and backyard chickens. This comes after the township unanimously voted in September to have staff draft a zoning ordinance amendment for data centers, which would make Ephrata the second municipality in Lancaster County to do so after Manor Township.

Gov: Ephrata Township Board of Supervisors
The Ephrata Township Board of Supervisors voted to advertise a public hearing on a proposed zoning amendment addressing data centers and backyard chickens. The hearing will be held on April 7. Ephrata Township is following Manor Township's example in drafting regulations for data centers, including requirements for visual and audio screening, noise levels, and environmental issues. Despite "considerable events" this winter, Ephrata Township's winter maintenance costs are currently under budget at $63,338 out of a $74,000 allocation, with the largest expense being $32,180 for road salt.
