The Fort Worth City Council has enacted a temporary 90-day moratorium on new data centers, effective earlier this week. The city's decision aims to allow for a comprehensive evaluation of the potential noise and water impacts associated with data center facilities, as well as their compatibility with existing land use.
Alongside the moratorium, the City Council has also moved to establish a dedicated data center commission. Furthermore, any new data center projects seeking approval will now be required to provide evidence of interconnection approval from ERCOT (Electric Reliability Council of Texas).
