'Project Flash' data center proposal fizzles out in Franklin County
Project Flash, a proposed data center for Summit View Business Park in Franklin County, is no longer moving forward. Franklin County Supervisor Mike Meredith announced the decision at a community meeting attended by over 200 residents, who had previously raised concerns about the project.
Project Flash, a data center proposed last year for Summit View Business Park in Franklin County, Virginia, will not be moving forward. Franklin County Supervisor Mike Meredith, representing the Boone District, made the announcement at a community meeting in Moneta, attended by more than 200 residents on Sunday.
Local residents, including Laura Carter and Christina Sizemore, had previously expressed significant concerns about the potential data center. Carter, for instance, had gathered nearly 500 pages of Freedom of Information Act documents detailing the county board's communications regarding Project Flash and the business park. The community's active engagement and expressed opposition appear to have contributed to the project's cessation.
