U.S. Congresswoman Veronica Escobar (D-Texas) has voiced concerns regarding the Army's announcement to build a data center on approximately 100 acres of underutilized Fort Bliss property in El Paso. Escobar stated that neither she nor the community was consulted before the Army reached a conditional agreement with global investment firm Carlyle for exclusive negotiations on the project, a decision she attributes to the White House.

Escobar held a regular media briefing on Monday, April 20, where she revealed her meeting with Army leadership after learning of the decision. She is now encouraging El Pasoans to attend a crucial community meeting and listening session to express their thoughts and concerns.

The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Wyndham El Paso Airport Conference Center. Leaders and representatives from the Department of the Army, Fort Bliss, and Carlyle will be present to provide information and hear from the public about the planned data center.
