A third data center project has been revealed for Cedar Rapids, Iowa, adding to the two already underway in the city. The new facility, approved via a city permit issued on June 22, is being developed by CLOP Cedar Rapids IA LLC, a subsidiary of Minnesota-based property development firm Oppidan.

The 98,695-square-foot data center will be located at 1515 33rd Ave. SW. City officials, including Mayor Tiffany O’Donnell, are working to ease public concerns regarding the rapid expansion of data centers in the area, stating that this project underwent a standard approval process for an industrial area zoned for such use since the early 2000s.

Oppidan's senior vice president of development, Drew Johnson, noted the company's commitment to utilizing local and regional resources for the project, with 90% of subcontractors expected to come from the greater Cedar Rapids area. The city has not yet provided a timeline for the project's completion.
