SoftBank plans 9 GW of gas-fired electricity in US to power data centers

Masayoshi Son, chairman and CEO of SoftBank Group, announced a significant data center and power plant project in Piketon, Ohio, on March 20. The U.S. government subsequently confirmed SoftBank Group's intention to develop 9.2 gigawatts of natural gas-fired power generation within the state. This substantial energy infrastructure is slated to power data centers specifically for artificial intelligence applications. The project is a component of Japan's overarching $550 billion investment commitment.
