Tucker United and its supporters hosted a solidarity picnic and protest at Canaan Valley State Park, West Virginia. This event coincided with a three-day visit by the West Virginia Legislature's Interim Committee. The gathering brought together various anti-data center organizations from across the state and Washington D.C.
Tucker United and its supporters gathered at Canaan Valley State Park in West Virginia for a solidarity picnic and protest, coinciding with a three-day visit by the West Virginia Legislature's Interim Committee to the Canaan Valley State Park Resort. The event aimed to demonstrate opposition to data center developments, drawing participation from other anti-data center organizations from across West Virginia and Washington D.C.
The protest featured activities such as a demonstration along the park's main road, a potluck chicken BBQ, a video presentation, sign-making, and a drum circle. Attendees were encouraged to wear yellow tee-shirts distributed at the event as a symbol of solidarity during the Committee sessions.
The Interim Committee's extensive agenda included off-site visits to locations like Dolly Sods, Big Timber, the National Youth Science Academy, Valley View, Mt. Storm, and the Tygart Hotel/Augusta Heritage Center/Railyard Event & Conference Center in Elkins. Additionally, the committee held meetings for various joint standing committees, including Finance, Judiciary, Education, Government Organization, Economic Development, and Health.
