OCWA begins work to build parallel water lines to support Micron growth
The Onondaga County Water Authority (OCWA) has announced the construction of two new parallel water transmission lines in Central New York. These lines are intended to support future growth, specifically for the Micron Campus located on the Clay/Cicero border, by providing critical water redundancy.
Officials from the Onondaga County Water Authority (OCWA) in Central New York have detailed plans for significant infrastructure projects, including the construction of two new parallel water transmission lines. One of these, the Eastern Main Transmission Main project, is designed to connect an OCWA facility directly to the Micron Campus, which is situated on the Clay/Cicero border.
The second project, the Clear Water Transmission Main, will run between the OCWA facility and a treatment plant in Oswego. Survey work for the initial phase has already begun, with the Eastern Main project anticipated to take one year and the Clear Water project two years to complete. OCWA Executive Director Jeff Brown highlighted the importance of these new lines, stating that they will provide vital redundancy for the water supply, ensuring that residents and businesses, including the expanding Micron facility, maintain access to water even if one line experiences an issue. The initiative aims to prepare the region's infrastructure for future industrial growth.
