Curtis Hosts Southern Utah Roundtables on Housing, Energy, and Water
Sen. John Curtis held roundtables in St. George, Utah, on housing, energy and water challenges linked to Southern Utah's growth. He also promoted greater transparency for data centers, including proposed federal legislation requiring reporting on energy use, water consumption and environmental impacts.
U.S. Sen. John Curtis hosted three roundtables in St. George with local officials, business leaders, utility providers and water managers focused on housing affordability, reliable electricity and long-term water security in Southern Utah. Discussions included power-generation and transmission infrastructure, permitting reform, Colorado River negotiations, water reuse and conservation.
Curtis said communities need more information to assess how data centers could affect local resources, utility costs and infrastructure. He cited his proposed Data Center Transparency Act, which would improve reporting on data center energy, water and environmental impacts, and the Data Center Community Empowerment Act, which would provide local leaders with technical assistance when evaluating projects.
