Fort Wayne Residents Protest Google Data Center Expansion and Diesel Generator Request
Allen County residents gathered near Google’s Project Zodiac data center campus in southeast Fort Wayne to raise concerns about air quality, wetlands, wildlife, energy costs and quality of life. The Protect Allen County Coalition also opposed Google’s request for additional diesel generators and called for greater transparency about the project’s future plans.
Residents of Allen County, particularly those living near Google’s Project Zodiac campus in southeast Fort Wayne, attended a community gathering organized by the Protect Allen County Coalition. Participants discussed concerns about air pollution, disruptions, wetlands, wildlife, energy affordability and the broader quality-of-life effects of the data center project.
The coalition said residents have not received clear communication from Google or government officials about land acquisition, energy, security and future development. The peaceful protest also opposed Google’s request for additional diesel generators, as residents sought transparency and responsible development while nearby projects, including a potential nuclear facility in New Haven and the AP Lulu transmission project, are also being considered.
