Data center moratorium to see consideration by Lyon County Commissioners Thursday

Lyon County Commissioners are scheduled to consider a proposed six-month moratorium on data centers and solar power facilities during their regular action meeting on Thursday. The moratorium, if approved, would temporarily suspend certain zoning, land use, and building permit applications.
Commissioner Chris Bartel introduced the proposal last Friday, following public comments on data centers and unconfirmed reports of a second potential data center project in Lyon County. Commissioners stated that during the six-month period, they would review current zoning regulations and conduct research into large-scale data center developments. Currently, a ten-day stopgap measure blocking data center and solar farm permit applications is in effect until August 1. The meeting will take place at 9 AM in the Lyon County Courthouse Commission Chambers.
