Chairman David Bennet revealed that while he initially leaned towards a permanent ban on data centers within the county, his opinion has since changed. He stated, "When I started this conversation I was scared to death of these things, I can tell you I don't think they are the boogeyman that everyone on the internet thinks they are."
Since the amendment was not voted on, the temporary ban on data center development will continue. Commissioners are expected to attempt another vote next month, allowing more time for research and discussion regarding the pros and cons of data centers.
