Susquehanna Valley residents rallied at the Pennsylvania state Capitol to oppose the development of hyperscale data centers. Protesters criticized the size and proximity of proposed facilities to private property and said communities should have greater influence over local zoning decisions.

Dan Diorio, executive vice president of state policy and government affairs for the Data Center Coalition, said data centers support essential services and significant economic activity in Pennsylvania. He cited nearly 130,000 jobs, $19.6 billion in economic contributions and $1.9 billion in state and local tax revenue in 2024, while saying the industry would work with communities and policymakers on responsible development.
