However, Mayor Marikay Abuzuaiter opposed the proposal, explaining that she needed to learn more about data centers before adopting such a policy. She expressed uncertainty about various aspects, including their size, water recycling capabilities, and energy sources.
Following a roll call, the moratorium proposal was rejected, with a final tally of five votes against and four in favor.
