Archbald council leadership reshuffled amid ongoing data center debate

The Archbald Borough Council experienced a leadership shakeup following more than a year of controversy surrounding proposed data center projects. During a meeting on Wednesday night, council members voted to remove the sitting president, vice president, and president pro tempore. Sources within the council indicated that the previous leadership was perceived by a majority of members as not adequately representing residents' best interests concerning the multiple planned data center developments. Louis Rapoch was elected as the new council president, Joseph Altier III as vice president, and Erin Owen as president pro tempore. This internal restructuring is expected to alter how meetings are conducted, agendas are developed, and decisions move forward. The debate over six proposed data center campuses continues to be a point of contention among Archbald residents and officials. A conditional use hearing for Green Mountain related to the data center controversy is scheduled for Thursday evening at Valley View High School.
