Hydrologist Todd Rasmussen, who has studied Georgia's water systems for over 30 years, describes the aquifer as "first-class" due to its clean and abundant water, particularly in the Dougherty Plain.

Rasmussen explains that the aquifer functions like a financial savings account, replenishing during wet periods and diminishing during dry spells. He emphasizes the need for careful management, stating that understanding recharge processes and underground water flow is crucial for minimizing environmental impact.
